Original road to Blue Lagoon reopened
Today, July 3rd, local authorities have reopened Grindavikurvegur for access to the Blue Lagoon. Work continues in the area, so please use caution and drive carefully.
Grindavik remains closed to public access, and visitors are asked not to stop when driving on Grindavikurvegur. Please use exits should you wish to stop and take photos.
Previously, visitors with a booking at the Blue Lagoon had been required to take a new route along road no. 44, however, with the recent eruption coming to a stop authorities have been able to allow access via the original route. This temporary route along Nesvegur has now been closed for public access, guests are therefore only able to get to the Blue Lagoon via the Grindavikurvegur road.
