The eruption that started on the 10th of July has now been declared over. No activity has been in the crater this weekend and no lava is running. 

The night closures on the hiking trails have been lifted, and the site is now open at any time.

It is important to keep in mind that the area is still an active site and not a safe zone:

  • The lava is still steaming hot, do not walk on the lava. 
  • There is still an active hazard map in action.
  • There is still the possibility of volcanic gases from the lava.
