Road towards Grindavik and the Blue lagoon open

A new road has been laid over the new lave giving visitors the possibility of visiting the Blue Lagoon

The Icelandic Road administration has published an update on the road towards Grindavik (road nr. 41)  and a new road towards the Blue Lagoon and Northern Lights Inn. These roads are open to all visitors, however the road is closed to the town of Grindavik. 

Please note:

  • the newly laid roads are gravel.
  • the speed limit has been lowered, road no. 41 is 90 km/hour and the road towards the Blue Lagoon is 50 km/hour. 
  • Stopping the car on the roads is forbidden.
