Keflavik International Airport is upgrading
Departure passengers, please show up three hours before flight during 31 May – 3 June
Due to upgrade work on the automated baggage handling system at Keflavik International Airport, departure passengers are kindly asked to show up at the airport three hours before flight during the first three days in June and the evening of May 31st.
Baggage handling efficiency is being improved at the airport with the addition of a new and more capable system. Connection work includes a three day period when no automated operation will be possible and all baggage must be sorted and processed by hand. In order to allow for the added workload and to minimize potential delays, passengers departing the airport between 18:00 on Tuesday, 31 May, and the morning of 4 June are required to arrive at the airport three hours before their flight time during this period.
Doubled capacity
The addition of the new baggage system will double the airport‘s current baggage handling capacity, and allow processing of standardized baggage containers that are used in wide body aircraft that Icelandair and WOW Air have recently added to their fleets. It also provides a much improved working environment for baggage handling specialists at the airport.
The 2:15 am flightbuses to Keflavik Airport will be free of charge
During the construction period Isavia, the airport operator, will offer passengers to travel free of charge with the 2.15 am flight buses to Keflavik Airport. This applies to the Iceland Excursion Flight Bus departing from BSÍ Bus Station and also to the Grayline Flight bus departing from the Gray Line Bus Terminal in Holtagarðar.
