Earthquakes and outdoor activities in Reykjanes peninsula
Today Wednesday, February 24th, the Reykjanes peninsula witnessed some major earthquakes. We can expect more seismic activity over the next few days and therefore visitors are encouraged to travel with caution in the area.
The Reykjanes peninsula is a geophysically lively and very interesting area and these events remind us of that.
For outdoor activities and travel in the area, visitors are encouraged to show extreme caution in the mountainous areas due to rockfalls and follow marked pathways and hiking trails at all times at the sites. Follow instructions and news from local authorities.
